What sticks out to me: UNI runs a 4-3 cover 2 that often has
safeties playing run first. Briefly watching him, it is evident
that his height and athleticism make him more than qualified
to play for an NFL team that runs the majority man-press
coverage. Hall made a significant impact on special teams even
though he was UNI’s top defensive talent. I witnessed him
recover an onside, make open field tackles on punt coverage,
and make significant returns. Earning the Missouri Valley
Defensive Player of the Year award certainly sticks out. Hall
uses his length to full advantage. After his junior year was
clocked running a 4.47 40 yard dash. Hall’s total tackle
numbers improved by an average increase of 17.6 a year

After watching and researching these players, it is evident they
were invited due to their versatility and cover ability. Each
player throughout their career has made a significant special
teams contribution and has played more than one position
(Mainly in secondary.) Each player played at least some press
coverage, some more than others. I found Deiondre’ Hall to
play the most press and sparingly be used as a lean rover to
shut down the most dangerous receiver on the opposing team.
Four of the nine invitees played their senior year in the FCS.
