WWF Armenia, with support from various partners, is launching a project to reintroduce the critically endangered Caucasian Red Deer to Armenia. The project will establish a breeding population at Dilijan National Park by purchasing deer from other countries and breeding them. This will be the first time an extinct species is reintroduced in Armenia. The goal is to release deer into the wild and monitor them as the Caucasian Red Deer was previously widespread but disappeared from Armenia's forests due to poaching and habitat loss.
