The document discusses the evolution of facility management from a reactive, accidental profession focused on individual jobs to a strategic profession leading the way in the 21st century. It highlights how modern facility management involves highly trained professionals, life cycle management, early design phase involvement, and reductions in resources, waste, energy usage, and carbon footprint. The document also describes European initiatives like the European FM Coalition to inform stakeholders and policymakers and help facility managers stay aware of public policy developments like the European 2030 Resource Efficiency Policy Framework.

Ignite Boulder: A Short Introduction To Cyborg AnthropologyAmber Case
My Presentation for Ignite Boulder on a Short Introduction to Cyborg Anthropology.
Speaker: Amber Case
Contact: http://www.twitter.com/caseorganic
Website: http://oakhazelnut.com/
Amber received her degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Lewis & Clark College Spring 2008 with a thesis on “The Cell Phone and Its Technosocial sites of Engagement".
Humans have always developed technologies to help them survive and thrive, but in recent decades the rapid escalation and intensification of the human-technology interface have exceeded anything ever known.
How we interact with machines and technology in many ways defines who we are. Cyborg Anthropology is a lens with which to understand what's happening to us in a world mediated by dynamic objects, processes, and change.
This speech will cover three things:
First, a definition of Cyborg Anthropology (what's a cyborg, and what's not?).
Second, what a Cyborg Anthropologist does (and what it's like to work in the field). And third, how you too can be a Cyborg Anthropologist (insta-cyborg!).
On 26 March 2015, IFMA Belgium and Wolter-Kluwers Education organized the 'FM Day' in Berchem (Antwerp), Belgium. This keynote focusses on the realization that FM is caught in the commodity trap and new thinking is necessary to create strategic growth opportunities. Editor's Notes
Now that you’ve introduced the basic thesis – the evolution and standardization of FM – in terms that FMs care about, introduce IFMA and yourself. We purposely left this to a later slide to that the presentation doesn’t seem like it’s solely about promoting IFMA.
This slide should be more about introducing IFMA than promoting it.
Talk about the shift in perceptions and in the role of facility management professionals.
