David Koster was born in London and attended the Slade School of Fine Art from 1944 to 1947. He was a founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists in 1964. Koster's work has focused on prints, predominantly wildlife subjects, depicting the birds he observed living in Hampstead, the West Highlands of Scotland, and Folkestone, Kent. He maintains printmaking studios in the Highlands and Folkestone to produce lithographs, etchings, and woodcut prints of wildlife year-round.
