• Problem: DB release schedule was unpredictable
• Problem: Fear of uncertainty due to too many features, unknown
quality
• Problem: Quarterly patching was too much work

New Oracle Database Release & Update Model

• New Release and Update Model is designed to make staying current easier and safer
• New Release and Update Model is a more flexible and responsive strategy
–Goal 1 - A less complex software release
• Need timely new feature implementation
• Improved quality
–Goal 2 - More flexibility
• Bug fixes when needed
• Keep current on Security Updates
