Raised in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania
He was the fifth child of the family.
His family eventually moved to Annapolis,
Maryland.
Daniel’s father died when he was nine years
old.
3. Williams’ attended Stanton School.
His father worked for the Equal Rights League.
He graduated from the Academy in 1877.
He was an apprentice with Dr. Henry Palmer.
Daniel went for further training at Chicago
Medical College.
Williams’ wanted to become a surgeon.
4. Daniel wanted to become a surgeon but
African American were not aloud to be
surgeons.
5. Daniel Hale Williams was the first African
American cardiologist.
He Founded Provident Hospital.
