DAILY REPORT 9th June 2016 The Sensex and Nifty swung between gains and losses on Wednesday, as investors booked profits on recent outperformers, but defence stocks rose after the United States recognised the country as a “major defence partner” during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing US visit. At 2.02 p.m., the 30-share BSE index Sensex was up 52.82 points or 0.2 per cent at 27,062.49 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was up 10.6 points or 0.13 per cent at 8,277.05. Among BSE sectoral indices, capital goods index gained the most by 1.64 per cent, power 1.37 per cent, infrastructure 0.74 per cent and PSU 0.7 per cent. On the other hand, IT index was down 0.48 per cent, TECk 0.29 per cent, FMCG 0.18 per cent and healthcare 0.01 per cent. Technical indicators point to more gains ahead, with the broader NSE index last month seeing its 50-day moving average cross above the 200-day average, creating a bullish trend called the “golden cross".
