This paper proposes a social framework for understanding how people seek information online. It argues that people's social networks and relationships influence how they find and evaluate information. Individual characteristics like gender, age, education and skills also impact information seeking. The framework aims to better understand information seeking as a social process shaped by both individual attributes and social connections.
