He has a B.Sc. and M.Tech. in geology and is a fellow of the Geological Society of India. Pancholi has extensive experience conducting geological surveys for water resource projects, bridges, and evaluating earthquake damage for dam safety. He has worked on projects across Gujarat and consulted privately and for the state government. Pancholi has published over 70 papers on various aspects of engineering geology and geohydrology.

4. Detailed Task & Professional Capabilities:
a) From Jan., 2000 till Date:
I am working as Geotechnical Consultant both for the Government of Gujarat & Private
Companies. I carried out –
• Assignments related to the geohydrological and engineering geological
investigations for river valley projects, road bridges, aqueducts as well as those
pertaining to water supply schemes.
• Geohydrological investigations related to water supply schemes and artificial
recharge to augment ground water storage
• Engineering geological investigations related to tunneling and slope stability works.
Tunnel alignment selection based on geomorphology and geotectonics of the
region. Tunnel Support System based on rock mass classification.
• Establishment of seismic network considering tectonic framework of the project
area
• Assessment and evaluation of spillway locations
• Post construction performance evaluation of dams and recommending remedial
measures
b) From July, 1968 to Dec., 1999:
I worked as Engineering Geologist in different capacities in Water Resources Department
of Government of Gujarat. The experience includes the engineering geological
investigations related to irrigation & multipurpose projects including Narmada Project. I
remained associated with development of Gulf of Khambhat Project (now Kalpasar
Project) from 1986 till date. Moreover, from 1981 through 1999 remained associated and
worked for the geohydrological investigations for Salinity Ingress Prevention Projects of
the Govt. of Gujarat. I was responsible for engineering geological investigations for Kathor
bridge across Tapi river, Karjan bridge across Karjan river, Valasana bridge across
Sabarmati river, bridge across Narmada near Chanod and many medium size bridges in
Gujarat.
c) From Dec., 1966 to June, 1968:
I worked as Geological Assistant in the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Government of
Gujarat at Panandhro Lignite Project in Kachchh region. The job included geological
mapping of potential area for lignite occurrence, sub surface investigation planning for
lignite deposits, bore hole logging and preparing bore hole log charts, sampling of lignite
and sending samples to laboratory for quality determination, assessing extent (vertical and
lateral) of lignite deposits, estimation of reserves, preparing geological drawings and
evaluation report.
Nature of Assignments:
1. Engineering Geological Surveys for water resources projects including canals in
Gujarat during investigation, construction and post construction stages. The
projects include Sardar Sarovar, Karjan, Dharoi, Kadana, Sipu, Damanganga, etc.
