Profile:
I am a postgraduatestudent graduatingfrom the field of coastal and marinescience.SinceSeptember 2015 I
have been undertaking my MSc in Coastal and MarineEnvironments which has been engaging and challenging
but has been the most enjoyabletime of my lifeso far.As a student I have been introduced to serious issues
facingIreland in terms of coastal erosion, flooding, and the challenges associated with the implementation of
Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM). Upon completion of my postgraduate dissertation which is
ecology-based,I will beavailablefor work within the environmental sector. I believe a role within a
consultancy based firmwould be an ideal startingpointto my professional career, and the skillsthatI have
learned throughout academia has prepared me for the challenges I will facein any new role. I am keen to work
in Ireland,in the field of either coastal or marinescience,as I feel the country’s coastal and marineresource
has been under-utilised,and with more focus on development and sustainableusethe potential in this area is
outstanding.
