This thesis aims to create a customer value framework for new product features of Electric Overhead Travelling Cranes (EOT) by researching customers in the steel and pulp and paper industries. The author conducted interviews and questionnaires with approximately 50 respondents from one steel customer and three pulp and paper customers. The results indicate that customers highly value safety and usability of cranes. However, the usage rate of new product features is surprisingly low, which may be due to conservative attitudes and lack of understanding of how the features work. The thesis reveals this problem and offers suggestions to overcome barriers to achieving superior customer value.
