Senior Instructor
• Instructed/administrated a "hands on" Living History program serving schools in Southern
California, Arizona, and Utah (5th-12th grades). The program investigated local, regional, and
national American history during the first half of the 19th century with a more specific focus on
Richard Henry Dana's classic work of literature Two Years Before the Mast (1841) and U.S.
Maritime history. Instructors assumed character roles (Captain, 1st and 2nd Mates, and the
galley slave "Doc") for the 18-hour overnight program instructing and supervising groups of 15-
30 students learn about and experience life at sea during the 1840s.
