The RESPONSE project studied cognitive alignment between companies and stakeholders on corporate social responsibility (CSR). It analyzed 19 companies through 427 interviews and 4 experiments with 93 managers. Key findings include: (1) Managers had a narrower view of CSR than stakeholders; (2) Higher CSR performers had greater cognitive alignment; and (3) Training can develop managers' social consciousness and responsible behavior. The study provides recommendations to improve CSR understanding and performance.
