Mexico has the highest number of dogs in Latin America, with 18 million dogs, but only 30% have owners. In Mexico City alone, there are an estimated 120,000 stray dogs whose feces produce over 182 tons of waste per year. The population of stray dogs is growing by 20% annually. The document proposes a project called TinDog that connects dog shelters with people seeking to care for dogs, either in person or virtually, through crowdsourcing micro-tasks like virtually feeding dogs or walking neighbors' dogs. Bots would help spread information about volunteer opportunities on social media and sort through adoption forms.
