Nigeria has become the seventh country to adopt what3words for mail deliveries, and the third in Africa. The system is already being used in Mongolia, Sint Maarten, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Tonga and Solomon Islands.
WHERE are you? It’s a three-word question that can be answered with a three-word answer to give your location anywhere on the planet thanks to what3words.
Selling online is more competitive than ever. what3words is helping e-commerce companies get ahead of the competition, providing a cost-effective way to reach customers and meet their delivery expectations.
This document provides an overview of what3words, a global addressing system that divides the world into a grid of 3m x 3m squares and assigns each square a unique 3-word address. It then summarizes how what3words works and some of its applications, such as improving delivery services, aiding emergency response, and integrating with mapping and GIS platforms. The document also briefly outlines the company's mission and history.
what3words is transforming navigation as we know it. Travelling to any point in the world – from a city commute to a drive across continents – can now be done with 3 simple words.

Addresses are critical to any country’s infrastructure. Without them, goods and services cannot be delivered, and people struggle to communicate where they live. what3words provides accurate and reliable addressing, anywhere in the word, in a quick-to-implement, o -the-shelf solution.
what3words provides an instant and reliable way to address every property in a country. It means postal services can deliver more efficiently to their customers, helping to unlock new opportunities and fuel economic growth.
The world is “always-on”. Food is a phone call away, taxis are hailed on an app and goods are delivered moments after they are ordered. These scenarios are only possible when locations can be easily identified and communicated – something that what3words enables with ease.
With what3words, anywhere and anything on the planet can now be identified with a simple 3 word address - from water points and street lights to entrances to hospital labs. With 3 word addresses, location data can be communicated and managed efficiently and accurately.
Hussein Hachem, CEO of logistics giant Aramex, looks back on 2016 including their partnership with what3words, helping them "reach more customers in off-the-grid locations".
what3words enables the delivery of goods, services and essential humanitarian aid to those who need it most. It’s improving supply chain efficiency and reaching those who live in densely populated or remote regions where addresses often aren’t fit for purpose.
For civilians and field workers using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), what3words is a simpler location input that is far less error-prone than using GPS coordinates to identify a landing site or waypoint.
what3words is hoping to tap into India's burgeoning e-commerce industry by providing a service that makes addresses - and thereby delivery systems - much smarter.

Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.
How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?

Chris Jones, Director of Product Management at BrainChip , presents the “Temporal Event Neural Networks: A More Efficient Alternative to the Transformer” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
Integration with BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic hardware IP further enhances TENNs’ capabilities, enabling the realization of highly capable, portable and passively cooled edge devices. This presentation delves into the technical innovations underlying TENNs, presents real-world benchmarks, and elucidates how this cutting-edge approach is positioned to revolutionize edge AI across diverse applications.
