Credit cards originated in Europe in the 1860s and were introduced to Americans with the Diner's Club card in the 1950s which could be used for travel and entertainment. While credit was historically used only when needed, modern credit cards are ubiquitous and can be used to purchase anything. Future credit cards may become miniature, implanted chips with security features as physical currency transitions to digital payments by credit.

 The concept of credit has been around since the 1800’s.
 Credit cards were introduced in Europe in the 1860’s
 The Diner’s Club Card was one of the first American credit
card. It was made of cardboard and was invented by Frank
McNamara.
 The Diner’s club card became a popular credit card in the
early 1950’s

Credit cards were originally used very rarely, but in today's
world credit cards are very common. It is easy to build up debt
with credit cards and that is why credit cards weren’t used very
often in the past decades.

4. Modern-day Credit Cards
 Credit card bills can be paid online.
 Some card companies have applications to where you can
use your phone as a credit card.
 Credit cards are plastic and contain a metal strip.
 Cards have holograms to prevent fraud.

5. Future Credit Cards
We believe that in the future credit cards will be small and will
fit on the tip of your finger. There will be a code tattooed
below the chip to ensure that you didn’t steal someone else’s
card. The concept of paper currency will become obsolete
and everything will be paid for with credit.
