years old is the most critical period in a child’s development process. Children of mothers that use
drugs while they are pregnant increase the likelihood that the child will suffer from some form of
birth defect and oftentimes born prematurely. The lasting effects of prenatal cocaine affect the
growth of the fetus physically. The results of the increase of premature birth, and generalized growth
retardation including decreased birth weight, shorter body length, and smaller head circumference
(Bigsby et al, 2011; Covington et al, 2002; Gouin et al, 2011; Mayes et al, 2003).
These toxic chemicals can sometimes have irreversible damage that affect the child’s normal
development process with regards to proper development of organs and brain function.
From the ages of 0-2 months old a child are expected to have develop motor skills that would
include the ability to recognize different colors and shapes, kicking waving, have the ability to
recognize familiar voices and their sleeping patterns would change, meaning that as they grow older
children should be sleeping a little longer than a new born baby. Children from the ages of 2
months old should be able to extend their arm and reach and pick up toys and other objects,
hand coordination by shifting objects from one hand to another. The child should be able to pick up
finger food and bring it to their mouths. Identifying a problem with a child is when they are not able
to perform these age appropriate task.
A toddler ages 3 to 5 years old should be able to perform task such as holding crayons drawing horizontal lines, circles and have the ability to fold and snip paper with scissors. Children that have been exposed to substance may struggle with completing these tasks or will develop these cognitive skills at a slower rate. One study using play behavior (Rodning, Beckwith, & Howard, 1989a) found that preterm toddlers exposed to cocaine
and other drugs to show poorly developed play behaviors, and a lack of interest and motivation in
unstructured situations, in comparison to a group of high risk preterm children. Using play behavior,

Abstract
The legalization of abortion has been a public health and social issues for many decades. This paper discusses issues surrounding abortion and why it should be legalized (do you mean should remain legalized, because it has been since the mid 70s in the USA?). The paper utilizes two theories: Free will theory, which argues that individuals should be allowed to make decisions or choose between different available courses of action without impediment. Supreme Court affirmed this through its 1973 decision on women's right to decide whether to have a child or not. Routine Activities theory describes how offenders commit crimes partially based on their normal ordinary activities and decisions. In this paper, data was not collected, but secondary data was explored. The paper concludes that safe and legal abortions have not only promoted the quality of life for women but also reduced the crime rates over the last two decades. Are there examples of it decreasing the crime rates? If so, they should also be here.
Introduction
The debate surrounding the legalization of abortion has been actively discussed since the 1973 Roe vs. Wade case. The Supreme Court, at the time, legalized abortion but set specific conditions for the practice. Since then, legal and safe abortions have been conducted across America by certified medical practitioners. However, this might soon change as anti-abortion movements continue to call for its illegalization. The decision to terminate the pregnancy seems to be associated with women's health as one of the fundamental rights. The Supreme Court ruling in 1973 reaffirms the right of women to decide on whether to have a child or not (Kimuyu, 2017). In such a case, the free will theory is applicable in legalizing abortion. Abstract
Background: Opioid use disorder (OUD) is among the most prevalent medical condition experienced by
incarcerated persons, yet medication assisted therapy (MAT) is uncommon. Four jail and prison systems partnered
with researchers to document their adoption of MAT for incarcerated individuals with opioid use disorders (OUD)
using their established treatment protocols. Employing the EPIS (Exploration, Planning, Implementation, and
Sustainment) framework, programs report on systematic efforts to expand screening, treatment and provide linkage
to community-based care upon release.
Results: All four systems were engaged with implementation of MAT at the outset of the study. Thus, findings
focus more on uptake and penetration as part of implementation and sustainment of medication treatment. The
prevalence of OUD during any given month ranged from 28 to 65% of the population in the participating facilities.
All programs developed consistent approaches to screen individuals at intake and provided care coordination with
community treatment providers at the time of release. The proportion of individuals with OUD who received MAT
ranged considerably from 9 to 61%. Despite efforts at all four sites to increase utilization of MAT, only one site
achieved sustained growth in the proportion of individuals treated over the course of the project. Government
leadership, dedicated funding and collaboration with community treatment providers were deemed essential to
adoption of MAT during implementation phases. Facilitators for MAT included increases in staffing and staff
training; group education on medication assisted therapies; use of data to drive change processes; coordination
with other elements of the criminal justice system to expand care; and ongoing contact with individuals post-
release to encourage continued treatment. Barriers included lack of funding and space and institutional design;
challenges in changing the cultural perception of all approved treatments; excluding or discontinuing treatment
based on patient factors, movement or transfer of individuals; and inability to sustain care coordination at the time
of release.
Conclusions: Adoption of evidence-based medication assisted therapies for OUD in prisons and jails can be
accomplished but requires persistent effort to identify and overcome challenges and dedicated funding to sustain
programs.

All four correctional systems were engaged in implementing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder at the start of the study. The prevalence of opioid use disorder among incarcerated individuals ranged from 28-65% across facilities. While all systems developed screening and community referral processes, the proportion receiving MAT varied significantly from 9-61%. Only one site achieved sustained growth in MAT utilization over time. Key facilitators for MAT implementation included increased staffing, training, education, use of data, and coordination with community providers. Barriers included lack of funding, space, challenges changing perceptions of treatment, and inability to sustain post-release coordination. Adoption of MAT requires persistent effort to overcome challenges and dedicated funding to sustain programs.

Overcrowding in prisons or correction centers is one of the problems that have attracted the attention of many researchers. Several researchers have tried to explore this particular issue in detail. This paper, therefore, seeks to analyze the existing data concerning this specific issue to be able to review the problem after collecting reliable data.
The essential data that will aid my research is secondary data. I have already collected several secondary data. These data sources include charts and statistics. The statistics show that there have been increased cases of overcrowding in many prisons and correctional centers in the US. These data and statistics indicate the large estimated number of prisoners and offenders being held in US prisons over the past few years. The reports from various agencies such as the Bureau of Justice Statistics also concur with these findings. This indeed indicates that there is a problem of overcrowding in most prisons and correctional centers in the US.
The data sources, which include charts and statistics, are relevant to the problem in that they show the extent of overcrowding in the prisons and correctional centers. These data also show the negative impacts of overcrowding on inmates. The statistics are also relevant in that they show the trend of increase in the number of inmates being held in prison over the past few years.
Statistics indicate that the US has an approximate prison population of 2.1 million. This is according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. This equates to approximately 481 people who are incarcerated per 99,000 of the population. The problem of overcrowding has become a serious issue in many U.S. prisons. Over 17 states reported that they were operating at over 100 percent capacity at the end of 2013 and 2014.
The data below indicates that the US is ranked number 113th in the world in terms of overcrowding in the prisons in the year 2018. The data also indicates that most of the US prisons were operating at an average capacity of 103.9%. This is according to statistics from Forbes.

Soap usage was measured in 4 restrooms (2 male, 2 female) across 3 conditions: baseline, signs prompting hand washing, and signs about flu transmission plus hand washing prompts. Descriptive Epidemiology
HIV/AIDS was first recognized as an epidemic in the United States in 1981. At the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, the life expectancy for infected persons was less than 7 years. Today, because of research and new treatment options, people who begin treatment soon after diagnosis can expect to live a nearly normal life span (Cairns, 2010). The HIV/AIDS epidemic was identified through descriptive epidemiology.
Descriptive epidemiologic studies are often conducted as precursors to analytic studies. Epidemiologic concepts are used to gather data to better understand and evaluate health trends in populations. Data such as characteristics of the persons affected, place where an incident occurred, and time of occurrence are collected and analyzed to look for patterns in an effort to identify emerging health problems.
In this Discussion, you will apply the epidemiologic concepts of time, place, and person to a specific population health problem.
To prepare:
Consider a variety of population health problems, and then select one on which to focus for this Discussion.
Identify a specific population affected by your selected health problem.
Research the patterns of the disease in your selected population using the epidemiologic characteristics of person, place, and time.
Explore three to five data sources presented in the Learning Resources that could aid you in describing the population and magnitude of the problem. Analyze the strengths and limitations of each data source.
Consider methods for obtaining raw data to determine the variables of person, place, and time for your health problem. Ask yourself: How would the methods I select influence the accuracy of case identification, definition, and diagnosis?

ABSTRACT
Recent advances in technology have significantly improved the accuracy of
genetic testing and analysis, and substantially reduced its cost, resulting in a
dramaticincreaseintheamountofgeneticinformationgenerated,analysed,
shared, and stored by diverse individuals and entities. Given the diversity of
actors and their interests, coupled with the wide variety of ways genetic data
are held, it has been difficult to develop broadly applicable legal principles
for genetic privacy. This article examines the current landscape of genetic
privacy to identify the roles that the law does or should play, with a focus on
federal statutes and regulations, including the Health Insurance Portabil-
ity and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Genetic Information Nondis-
crimination Act (GINA). After considering the many contexts in which is-
sues of genetic privacy arise, the article concludes that few, if any, applicable
legal doctrines or enactments provide adequate protection or meaningful
control to individuals over disclosures that may affect them. The article de-
scribes why it may be time to shift attention from attempting to control ac-
cess to genetic information to considering the more challenging question of
howthesedatacanbeusedandunderwhatconditions,explicitlyaddressing
trade-offs between individual and social goods in numerous applications.

The study examined how participants justified decisions involving human lives versus money. Participants provided rationales for choices in scenarios about a disease outbreak or monetary gamble. Their justifications were coded as relating to emotion, risk, or morality. Results showed participants made more morality-based statements for human life scenarios than monetary ones. For outbreak scenarios, more risk statements were made about the general public, while more morality statements were about prisoners, often dehumanizing them. Future research could use larger, more diverse samples and additional coding schemes.

Abstract
The legalization of abortion has been a public health and social issues for many decades. This paper discusses issues surrounding abortion and why it should be legalized (do you mean should remain legalized, because it has been since the mid 70s in the USA?). The paper utilizes two theories: Free will theory, which argues that individuals should be allowed to make decisions or choose between different available courses of action without impediment. Supreme Court affirmed this through its 1973 decision on women's right to decide whether to have a child or not. Routine Activities theory describes how offenders commit crimes partially based on their normal ordinary activities and decisions. In this paper, data was not collected, but secondary data was explored. The paper concludes that safe and legal abortions have not only promoted the quality of life for women but also reduced the crime rates over the last two decades. Introduction

Abstract
Background: Opioid use disorder (OUD) is among the most prevalent medical condition experienced by
incarcerated persons, yet medication assisted therapy (MAT) is uncommon. Four jail and prison systems partnered
with researchers to document their adoption of MAT for incarcerated individuals with opioid use disorders (OUD)
using their established treatment protocols. Employing the EPIS (Exploration, Planning, Implementation, and
Sustainment) framework, programs report on systematic efforts to expand screening, treatment and provide linkage
to community-based care upon release.
Results: All four systems were engaged with implementation of MAT at the outset of the study. Thus, findings
focus more on uptake and penetration as part of implementation and sustainment of medication treatment. The
prevalence of OUD during any given month ranged from 28 to 65% of the population in the participating facilities.
All programs developed consistent approaches to screen individuals at intake and provided care coordination with
community treatment providers at the time of release. The proportion of individuals with OUD who received MAT
ranged considerably from 9 to 61%. Despite efforts at all four sites to increase utilization of MAT, only one site
achieved sustained growth in the proportion of individuals treated over the course of the project. Government
leadership, dedicated funding and collaboration with community treatment providers were deemed essential to
adoption of MAT during implementation phases. Facilitators for MAT included increases in staffing and staff
training; group education on medication assisted therapies; use of data to drive change processes; coordination
with other elements of the criminal justice system to expand care; and ongoing contact with individuals post-
release to encourage continued treatment. Barriers included lack of funding and space and institutional design;
challenges in changing the cultural perception of all approved treatments; excluding or discontinuing treatment
based on patient factors, movement or transfer of individuals; and inability to sustain care coordination at the time
of release.
Conclusions: Adoption of evidence-based medication assisted therapies for OUD in prisons and jails can be
accomplished but requires persistent effort to identify and overcome challenges and dedicated funding to sustain
programs.

All four correctional systems were engaged in implementing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder at the start of the study. The prevalence of opioid use disorder among incarcerated individuals ranged from 28-65% across facilities. While all systems developed screening and community referral processes, the proportion receiving MAT varied significantly from 9-61%. Only one site achieved sustained growth in MAT utilization over time. Key facilitators for MAT implementation included increased staffing, training, education, use of data, and coordination with community providers. Barriers included lack of funding, space, challenges changing perceptions of treatment, and inability to sustain post-release coordination. Overcrowding in prisons or correction centers is one of the problems that have attracted the attention of many researchers. Several researchers have tried to explore this particular issue in detail. This paper, therefore, seeks to analyze the existing data concerning this specific issue to be able to review the problem after collecting reliable data.
The essential data that will aid my research is secondary data. I have already collected several secondary data. These data sources include charts and statistics. The statistics show that there have been increased cases of overcrowding in many prisons and correctional centers in the US. These data and statistics indicate the large estimated number of prisoners and offenders being held in US prisons over the past few years. The reports from various agencies such as the Bureau of Justice Statistics also concur with these findings. This indeed indicates that there is a problem of overcrowding in most prisons and correctional centers in the US.
The data sources, which include charts and statistics, are relevant to the problem in that they show the extent of overcrowding in the prisons and correctional centers. These data also show the negative impacts of overcrowding on inmates. The statistics are also relevant in that they show the trend of increase in the number of inmates being held in prison over the past few years.
Statistics indicate that the US has an approximate prison population of 2.1 million. This is according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. This equates to approximately 481 people who are incarcerated per 99,000 of the population. The problem of overcrowding has become a serious issue in many U.S. prisons. The data below indicates that the US is ranked number 113th in the world in terms of overcrowding in the prisons in the year 2018. The data also indicates that most of the US prisons were operating at an average capacity of 103.9%. This is according to statistics from Forbes.

This study investigated the effects of sign prompts on hand washing behaviors in university restrooms. Soap usage was measured in 4 restrooms (2 male, 2 female) across 3 conditions: baseline, signs prompting hand washing, and signs about flu transmission plus hand washing prompts. Results found that females washed hands more than males. The initial prompts increased hand washing for both genders in 1 building. However, signs about flu transmission returned hand washing to near or below baseline, suggesting fear-arousing health messages may decrease desired behaviors. Prompts can increase hand washing, but the type of prompt should be carefully considered.

Today, because of research and new treatment options, people who begin treatment soon after diagnosis can expect to live a nearly normal life span (Cairns, 2010). The HIV/AIDS epidemic was identified through descriptive epidemiology.
Descriptive epidemiologic studies are often conducted as precursors to analytic studies. Epidemiologic concepts are used to gather data to better understand and evaluate health trends in populations. Data such as characteristics of the persons affected, place where an incident occurred, and time of occurrence are collected and analyzed to look for patterns in an effort to identify emerging health problems.

ABSTRACT
Recent advances in technology have significantly improved the accuracy of
genetic testing and analysis, and substantially reduced its cost, resulting in a
dramaticincreaseintheamountofgeneticinformationgenerated,analysed,
shared, and stored by diverse individuals and entities. Given the diversity of
actors and their interests, coupled with the wide variety of ways genetic data
are held, it has been difficult to develop broadly applicable legal principles
for genetic privacy. This article examines the current landscape of genetic
privacy to identify the roles that the law does or should play, with a focus on
federal statutes and regulations, including the Health Insurance Portabil-
ity and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Genetic Information Nondis-
crimination Act (GINA). After considering the many contexts in which is-
sues of genetic privacy arise, the article concludes that few, if any, applicable
legal doctrines or enactments provide adequate protection or meaningful
control to individuals over disclosures that may affect them. The article de-
scribes why it may be time to shift attention from attempting to control ac-
cess to genetic information to considering the more challenging question of
howthesedatacanbeusedandunderwhatconditions,explicitlyaddressing
trade-offs between individual and social goods in numerous applications.

The study examined how participants justified decisions involving human lives versus money. Participants provided rationales for choices in scenarios about a disease outbreak or monetary gamble. Their justifications were coded as relating to emotion, risk, or morality. Results showed participants made more morality-based statements for human life scenarios than monetary ones. For outbreak scenarios, more risk statements were made about the general public, while more morality statements were about prisoners, often dehumanizing them. Future research could use larger, more diverse samples and additional coding schemes.

Us v. maze
Thomas Maze used Charles Meredith's credit card to obtain food, lodging, and other items while traveling through several states without Meredith's permission. Meredith reported the card stolen. The Supreme Court affirmed the appellate court's reversal of Maze's conviction, holding that the mailings were not sufficiently related to Maze's scheme since they occurred after he obtained the items and were simply a result of the physical distance between locations, not to execute the scheme.
Us v. garcia
The document summarizes a court case, US v. Garcia. It describes a shooting that occurred at a party between rival gangs, the Crips and Bloods. Cody Garcia, a member of the Bloods, arrived and exchanged words with the Crips. A shooting broke out and four people were injured, though there was no evidence Garcia fired a weapon. Garcia was charged with conspiracy to assault three individuals. The court of appeals reversed Garcia's conviction, finding the government did not provide sufficient evidence of an agreement or overt act to prove the conspiracy charge. Us v. ancheta
Jeanson James Ancheta pled guilty to conspiracy to violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and conspiracy to violate the CAN-SPAM Act. He admitted to using computer servers to transmit malicious code over the internet and scan/exploit other computers. He directed an Internet Relay Chat Channel to help spread "zombie" bots. He was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison in Los Angeles. The court affirmed that the prison term was fair for someone who spread computer viruses to generate over $100,000 and infect 400,000 computers.
State v. zeta chi fraternity
The New Hampshire Supreme Court affirmed the conviction, finding that agents of Zeta Chi Fraternity acted within the scope of their authority and on behalf of the corporation. Witness testimony established that fraternity members controlled the beer machine and space, and were aware underage drinking was occurring. The fraternity also knowingly allowed oral sex acts in exchange for money to occur
State v. ulvinen
Helen Ulvinen was convicted of first-degree murder for the killing of Carol Hoffman by Helen's son David Hoffman. David strangled and dismembered his wife Carol. He called his mother Helen to watch the children while he disposed of Carol's body. The Minnesota Supreme Court reversed Helen's conviction. There was no evidence that Helen influenced David's decision to kill his wife. As David's parent, Helen was insulated by statute from guilt as an accomplice after the fact for her conduct. The evidence at best showed that Helen passively acquiesced to David's plan, which is not a criminal offense under Minnesota law.
State v. tomaino
A clerk at a video store sold an R-rated video to a minor, despite the store owner not being present. The store owner was convicted under a statute prohibiting disseminating harmful materials to juveniles. The appellate court reversed the conviction, finding that the statute requires personal action by the defendant, and as the owner was not present, the statute did not apply to him. The case was remanded for a new trial with proper jury instructions.
State v. stark
Calvin Stark tested positive for HIV in 1988 and was informed by his doctor that he must disclose his status before engaging in sexual activity. Despite this, Stark had unprotected sex with three victims between 1989-1990 without informing them of his HIV status. He was charged with three counts of assault. At his bench trials, Stark was found guilty on all counts. The court affirmed the convictions, finding that the evidence - including Stark being counseled on safe sex practices and testimony from his victims and neighbors - supported the element of intent to inflict bodily harm.
State v. snowden
Raymond Snowden met Cora Dean at a club and they left together. They argued over cab fare, Snowden pulled out a knife and cut her throat, severing her spinal cord and causing her death. Snowden then disposed of evidence from the crime. He pled guilty to murder in the first degree. The Supreme Court affirmed the district court's decision, finding that Snowden had sufficient time after meeting Dean to develop the desire to kill her, showing malice aforethought. The court reasoned that Snowden's acts met the statutory definition of deliberate and premeditated murder.
State v. sexton
Ronald Sexton was seen arguing with Alquadir Matthews before Matthews told Sexton his gun was unloaded and a bullet was fired, killing Matthews. At trial, a ballistics expert testified that it was impossible to see if the gun was loaded without pulling the slide back, and someone unfamiliar with guns could assume it was unloaded. Sexton was convicted of manslaughter and unlawful gun possession. The Supreme Court affirmed the appellate court's reversal, holding that the state failed to prove Sexton knew the gun was loaded, which is essential to the charges. The case was remanded.
State v. schleifer
1. The defendant stood in front of a crowd and told them to commit various crimes including breaking windows, assaulting someone with a lead pipe, and stealing property. He was charged with solicitation to commit crimes.
2. The issue is whether an individual can be punished under the law for inciting and commanding multiple people to commit serious crimes with wanton disregard for life and property.
3. The court held that solicitation to another to commit felonies with dangerous weapons is a crime under common law, so the judgment was set aside and the case remanded.
State v. ninham
Omer Ninham, who was 14 years old at the time, was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide for his role in beating a man and causing him to fall to his death. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Ninham appealed his sentence, arguing that it was unconstitutional punishment for a 14-year-old and excessively harsh. The Supreme Court affirmed the lower court's ruling, finding that a life sentence without parole for a 14-year-old convicted of homicide was not categorically unconstitutional. The Court also determined that Ninham's sentence was not disproportionate to his crime and that his family's religious beliefs were not improperly considered in sentencing.
State v. mays
The defendant, Kenneth Rokicki, was charged with a hate crime for yelling gay slurs at a Pizza Hut employee and disturbing other customers and staff. Rokicki argued that the hate crime statute was unconstitutional. The trial court convicted Rokicki and sentenced him to probation and community service. On appeal, the court affirmed the conviction, finding that the hate crime statute was not overly broad or a violation of free speech. The statute permissibly punished bias-motivated conduct more harshly than identical unbiased conduct based on sound public policy.

PGx Analysis in VarSeq: A User’s Perspective
Since our release of the PGx capabilities in VarSeq, we’ve had a few months to gather some insights from various use cases. Some users approach PGx workflows by means of array genotyping or what seems to be a growing trend of adding the star allele calling to the existing NGS pipeline for whole genome data. Luckily, both approaches are supported with the VarSeq software platform. The genotyping method being used will also dictate what the scope of the tertiary analysis will be. For example, are your PGx reports a standalone pipeline or would your lab’s goal be to handle a dual-purpose workflow and report on PGx + Diagnostic findings.
The purpose of this webcast is to:
Discuss and demonstrate the approaches with array and NGS genotyping methods for star allele calling to prep for downstream analysis.
Following genotyping, explore alternative tertiary workflow concepts in VarSeq to handle PGx reporting.
Moreover, we will include insights users will need to consider when validating their PGx workflow for all possible star alleles and options you have for automating your PGx analysis for large number of samples. 5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT or Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that serves a range of roles in the human body. It is sometimes referred to as the happy chemical since it promotes overall well-being and happiness.
It is mostly found in the brain, intestines, and blood platelets.
5-HT is utilised to transport messages between nerve cells, is known to be involved in smooth muscle contraction, and adds to overall well-being and pleasure, among other benefits. 5-HT regulates the body's sleep-wake cycles and internal clock by acting as a precursor to melatonin.
It is hypothesised to regulate hunger, emotions, motor, cognitive, and autonomic processes.
