Anyone can create and publish augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and 3D applications quickly and easily with Amazon Sumerian. In this session, learn how to use Sumerian to build a scene that can be published and viewed on laptops, mobile phones, VR headsets, and digital signage. Take a tour of the Sumerian interface, and learn how to build a scene, add assets and hosts, and add behaviors to create dynamically animated objects and characters in an AR/VR experience. Also see how Sumerian integrates into AWS services such as Amazon Polly, Amazon Lex, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, and Amazon DynamoDB.

The browser-based approach of Amazon Sumerian to creating and publishing apps is innovating how enterprises are engaging with their customers. WeatherBug is the first company to create a mobile augmented reality (AR) experience built using Sumerian. In this session, we explore the strategy, development plan, and technical hurdles we addressed to provide a real-time, micro-local application and make it available to scale to 100,000s of users.

In this talk, we show you how to bring traditional debugging and deployment practices to your AWS Lambda based applications. Using the AWS Cloud9 IDE, we will set breakpoints that enable us to debug our application and follow the call path into the function code. We will install best practices by writing unit tests for our functions and then establish a release pipeline with AWS CodeStar that invokes those tests when we release application into testing or production. We will then use AWS X-Ray to trace and debug our distributed application in production.

Build a Kubernetes Cluster with Amazon EKS

Go from 0 to fullly deployed on Kubernetes using Amazon EKS. In this workshop you'll learn how to define and launch a Kubernetes control plane using Amazon EKS, including setting up kubectl, networking, and security access controls. Next, you'll see how to launch worker nodes using Amazon EC2 and check them into your EKS cluster. We'll finish up by running a sample application on our new, fully-managed Kubernetes cluster. Come prepared to build with a laptop and an AWS account. AWS credits will be provided.

AWS RoboMaker enables you to easily develop complex robot applications. In this workshop, we introduce the capabilities of RoboMaker to develop ROS robot and simulation applications, natively integrate with other AWS services such as Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon Kinesis video streams, and build and compile these applications. Upon completion, you will launch a simulated TurtleBot3 wheeled robot to look at different images within an enclosed space utilizing Amazon Rekognition’s object detection features, and track down that pesky pooch’s photo! After the workshop, you will have a fundamental understanding of the development process for robotic applications using AWS RoboMaker.
