discussion groups on LinkedIn, has agreed to serve as lead judge in GSN’s 2013 Border Security
Awards Program, according to an announcement today by Jacob Goodwin, GSN’s editor-in-chief.
“It would be very hard to find a more qualified person than Chuck Brooksfor the job,” said Goodwin.
“He’s been a high-ranking government insider in the Department of Homeland Security and VP of
R&D at Rapiscan Systems, a leader in explosives detection, as well as other border security
assignments.”
Brooks is former Adjunct Faculty at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced
International Studies where he taught a graduate levelcourse on “Congress and Homeland Security.”
He also has an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a BA in Political
Science from DePauw University. (Goodwin noted that Brooks will recuse himself from the awards
category in which his former employer, Rapiscan, has submitted an entry.)
