3 Rules for Your Classroom by Noble NewmanNoble Newman
The document provides 3 suggested rules for classrooms: be respectful, be responsible, and be safe. For each rule, the document explains what it encompasses and how following the rule allows for more fun and freedom in the classroom. The document emphasizes having students help create the rules to foster stronger buy-in. It also suggests displaying the rules prominently in the classroom to constantly reinforce them.
This document discusses the validity of online ordination and certification for Christian chaplaincy. It argues that all ordination today ultimately traces back to the Bible, so ordination from an online source is not inherently invalid. It also notes that the government is constitutionally prohibited from validating any particular religion. For these reasons, online ordination and certification can provide valid credentials for voluntary chaplaincy work in places like hospitals and prisons, though it may not satisfy all employers. The document encourages participants to focus on serving others with love rather than worrying about questions of validity from those seeking to discriminate.

This thesis analyzes models of independent judicial councils and their role in facilitating judicial control over court administration in several countries. It develops a proposed model for a Judicial Council of Victoria with responsibilities for improving the quality of justice in the court system.
The thesis then assesses the legal and institutional framework of Court Services Victoria (CSV), which was established in 2014 to transfer responsibility for court administration from the executive government to the judiciary. It argues CSV requires a strong mandate to help courts improve operations and respond to challenges inherited from the previous executive system.
At the court level, the model envisions establishment of management boards of executive judges and court CEOs, modelled on corporate boards, with full responsibility for administration. Overall, the
This document provides an overview of next steps following an Evidence and Procedure Review report on modernizing criminal justice procedures in Scotland. It discusses the potential for greater digitization of evidence and case management, with a focus on summary proceedings. It also examines issues around taking evidence from children and vulnerable witnesses, based on discussions with stakeholders. The document concludes by outlining recommendations on improving procedures for solemn cases and children/vulnerable witnesses based on the discussions and review findings.

This document provides a summary of a PhD thesis that analyzes the legal and regulatory reforms needed to enable local private sector participation in urban water services. It uses New Delhi, India as a case study. The analysis has three parts: 1) examining water law/policy and implications for private sector bulk water access; 2) assessing legal basis and contract options for public-private partnerships; and 3) evaluating regulatory provisions/institutions for water services. Results indicate India's current framework is inadequate. The thesis recommends enacting groundwater legislation, a water framework law enabling private sector involvement, and an independent water regulator to set tariffs, standards and regulate local private providers under possible concession contracts. The analysis provides an approach for evaluating other developing

Electronic Court Case Management System (eCCMS), is a web-based system which is developed to make the functional areas in Judicial Service more efficiency and effective. One of the main intention of this project is to control and allow complete registration of all court cases and tracking of case current status and location; to enhance public access on web, avoiding client to go to court and also needs to follow up daily after filing of case.
The document provides a review of the accounts receivable and payroll functions at Chic Paints Ltd (CPL). It identifies several weaknesses, including:
1) The payroll clerk regularly breaks policy by allowing wages to be collected by someone other than the employee, risking theft or loss of wages.
2) The accounts receivable clerk and credit controller are unable to keep up with their responsibilities due to being overworked, causing delays and issues for other staff.
3) Lack of due diligence in credit control led to a major customer being granted too much credit and then going into liquidation owing £40,000.
The document makes recommendations to address these weaknesses, such as enforcing the wage collection policy
This document discusses the causes of compromised outcomes in complex statutory adjudications in Australia. It reviews criticism that the legislation has failed to facilitate decisions of sufficient quality for complex adjudications. The identified key causes of unsatisfactory outcomes for complex cases are flawed appointment of adjudicators, relaxed eligibility and regulation of adjudicators, intimidation of adjudicators, unclear jurisdictional boundaries, abbreviated timeframes that don't allow thorough examination of complex cases, limited inquisitorial powers for adjudicators, and lack of review mechanisms for adjudication decisions.
NYU ACLP Government Owned Broadband Networks June 2014Luz Weinberg
This document provides an overview and summary of the debate around government-owned broadband networks (GONs) in the United States. It begins with background on the evolution of GON advocacy and outlines the modern debate context, including broadband access trends, demand challenges, and economic/infrastructure realities facing local governments. The report then presents 10 case studies of major GONs and draws conclusions about their efficacy. It concludes by discussing roles for governments in enhancing connectivity and providing additional perspectives on the debate.
The National Science and Technology Council's Task Force on Identity Management was established to assess the current state of identity management (IdM) across the U.S. government and develop a vision for the future. The Task Force found that over 3,000 federal systems currently utilize personally identifiable information (PII) in an inconsistent and duplicative manner. The Task Force proposed a new framework that includes: 1) A "network of networks" to securely manage common PII elements across agencies; 2) Strong security, privacy and auditability standards; and 3) Ubiquitous yet controlled access to verified identity data. This proposed approach aims to improve accuracy, availability, privacy and coordination of IdM across the federal government.
The Core Competencies for Electronic Resources Librarians (CCERL) has defined the role of an electronic resources librarian (ERL) and has served as a framework for additional applications. The (CCERL) has helped ERLs reorganize departments, create updated job descriptions, and implement Library Services Platforms. Librarians have also used the (CCERL) to extend skills to digital projects, weeding projects, scholarly communications and other areas. This presentation seeks to further connect theory to practical applications by illustrating how the (CCERL) impacted three librarians at the beginning, middle, and later stages of their careers. A new electronic resources librarian will describe how competencies guided training during the first year as an ERL. A recently promoted librarian will demonstrate how the competencies were used to organize a promotion dossier. Finally, an experienced librarian will provide insight on how the development of the (CCERL) has shaped the field of electronic resources librarianship.
This document provides guidelines for conducting systematic literature reviews in software engineering. It summarizes the key stages in a systematic review as planning, conducting the review, and reporting. In the planning stage, researchers develop a review protocol that specifies the research question, search strategy, study selection criteria, and quality assessment methods. When conducting the review, the main stages are identifying relevant research, selecting primary studies, assessing study quality, extracting data, and synthesizing results. Reporting involves documenting the review process and findings. The guidelines aim to make systematic reviews more rigorous and reduce bias, while adapting procedures from medical research to the needs of software engineering.
The Opinion comes to complement the preliminary opinion of IPRE and CRJM from 19 May 20203 and reviews the updated draft Action Plan, submitted by the Ministry of Justice on 25 June 2020.
Justice Advisory Council Bond Report, 7/12/2012cookcountyblog
The Justice Advisory Council examined Cook County's bond court procedures from January to June 2012. They found that the main issues were the reliance on a paper-based system and lack of physical space for interviews. As a result, key stakeholders agreed to implement electronic arrest reporting by 6 AM and improve interview facilities. A new "Motion to Reconsider" process was also established to help verify information for those detained who could not post low bonds. The Council will continue monitoring progress on these recommended improvements.
The document summarizes a report from the Smart Sourcing Advisory Committee (SSAC) on developing an analytical framework to inform decisions about insourcing versus outsourcing IT services at Shared Services Canada (SSC). The SSAC includes representatives from SSC, government organizations, unions, and private sector IT companies. It outlines SSC's context and mandate to transform government IT infrastructure. The report proposes categories and criteria for the framework but the union representative disagreed with outsourcing assumptions and said evidence was not provided showing outsourcing SSC's skills is appropriate. It aims to balance public and private delivery to achieve savings, service, security and sustainability.
Aplin Partnership worked in collaboration with the NARPACA Ticketing Professionals Conference Committee (most particularly the Chairman, Tim Roberts) to devise this primary research and analysis project to explore the attitudes and practices of Box Office Managers within Australia. In this instance, all Box Office Managers within Queensland, NT, Victoria and Tasmania were invited to participate.
The research took the form of:
• A detailed questionnaire which was emailed to participants (Jan – Feb 2010)
• 2 month long Mystery Shopper survey of participating venues web site email lists (Jan – Mar 2010)
• Specific comparison with 2 key relevant research projects from the UK
• Presentation of many key findings of the research at the 2010 NARPACA Ticketing Professionals Conference in Sydney where the presentation and handouts were designed to prompt and provoke informed debate during the conference amongst the attending Box Office Managers.
The aims of the audit were to:
• Illuminate the current range of behaviours and alert Box Office Managers to best practice
• Provoke informed debate and re-assessment of habits
• Highlight wide variations in practice to enable organisations to compare, make more informed decisions and potentially identify where they need external support and training
• Highlight indications of different organisational culture and behaviours and identify some of the potential impacts
• Provide benchmark information for comparison and to inform decision making within the organisations
• Provide context and highlight key areas and make recommendations about how this best be supported
• Encourage improved collaboration and communication both within and between venues, which have been shown to have a significant impact upon the efficiency and effectiveness of organisations – for example the VAPAC initiative for box office managers, BOMNet
• Provide a report which can be used as an internal advocacy document to contribute towards the involvement of Box Office expertise throughout arts organisations
• Provide an overview of ticketing systems in use
• Highlight the impact of internet ticketing and the changes it is making to Box Office operations and priorities
DENG Master Improving data quality and regulatory compliance in global Inform...Harvey Robson
This thesis addresses issues of data quality and regulatory compliance in global information technology. It presents two case studies that demonstrate how large cost savings can be achieved by improving data quality. The first case study uses Six Sigma methodology to reduce data field errors. The second develops a framework to reduce cycle times and increase productivity related to Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. The thesis contributes a framework based on empirical study that identifies and resolves causes of data quality issues. It provides guidance to help management address process performance problems and discusses tools and techniques for continuous improvement.

1. Day 1 : The independence imperative - an examination of COURT GOVERNANCE
This module outlines the basic structural and operational relationships between the legislative, executive and
judicial branches of government in the provision of court services. Students will gain fundamental knowledge about
the internal corporate governance systems in courts and those of other large public entities and corporations. The
module considers the concept of ‘corporatisation’ of the judiciary and examines the tension between the principles
of judicial independence and corporate accountability of courts as public organisations.

2. Day 2: Evaluating COURT PERFORMANCE
This module examines the court environment in a broader sense, by taking into account not only the organizational
factors, but also those that are inherent in the local legal culture and procedure. We proceed to identify and
examine the most significant internal and external impediments to effective work organization in the courts. Upon
the completion of this module, students will gain a deep understanding of the interaction between court
governance, court management, case management and legal procedure. This discussion will be followed by an
overview of the strategies and systems that have been introduced in various jurisdictions in order to evaluate and
improve court performance and minimize instances of delay.

3. Day 3: LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT in the unique context of courts.
Tasked with upholding principles that underpin stable democratic governance, court managers require
a particular repetoir of competencies to enable them to lead effectively in the niche operating
environment of courts. This module will systematically examine these competencies and discrete
themes in this space. Starting with an examination of courts as a public and professional bureaucratic
organisation, local and international court management approaches, principles, frameworks and tools
will be identified and compared. The closing topic of the module will scrutinize the transformation of
courts and their services in the era of eGovernment, providing students with relevant and
contemporary knowledge of court management.

4. Day 4: The core business of the courts – MANAGING CASES and their FLOW.
A fundamental responsibility of court leaders is to ensure the court organisation is geared to support and monitor
the conduct of a fair trial in a reasonable time. This module distinguishes the approaches used by managers to
uphold this tenant by investigating case management and case flow management. As the module galvanizes
concepts of court performance management learnt in preceding topics, students will consider suits of methods and
tools to enable delay to be identified and to address backlogs in a systematic way.
