Liverpool/PERICLES), Jean-Yves Vion-Dury (Xerox/PERICLES) and Stratos Kontopoulos (CERTH/PERICLES) within the interactive workshop 'Modelling Policies, Exploring Real Use Cases' which took place at final project conference 'Acting on Change: New Approaches and Future Practices in LTDP' (Wellcome Collection Conference Centre, London, 30 Nov -1 Dec 2016).
This workshop explored the application of the PERICLES approach for policy and digital ecosystems modelling for real world preservation policies, provided by Artefactual and by the attendees. A video-player example was used to illustrate change propagation. In the second part of the workshop participants joined in a practical exercise exploring changing needs for Email preservation.

This thematic session was also joined by Matthew Addis (Arkivum), Dan Gillean (Artefactual), Angela Dappert (British Library) and Rob Baxter (University of Edinburgh/PERICLES).
According to the DCMM (Digital Preservation Capability Maturity Model ©) newsletter in January 2016, “There are positive signs that digital preservation is finally entering the mainstream of professional practice and information technology infrastructure.”
The accelerating impact of change on long-term preservation might contradict the optimisms that we are coming closer to bridging the digital preservation capability gap between the problem owners and the solution providers. A lot of cutting-edge technology and research has been done out there over the past decade to support preservation, but who is ready to take on the risk of being an early adopter of cutting-edge solutions? When it seems many organisations are still struggling to understand what they need to be doing and what fits their context and purposes.
So what does it take to close that chasm? What type of collaborations are needed? Are we ready to build that bridge?

Reproducibile scientific workflows - Acting on Change 2016
This presentation was delivered by Tomasz Miksa (SBA Research) at the PERICLES final project conference 'Acting on Change: New Approaches and Future Practices in LTDP' (Wellcome Collection Conference Centre, London, 30 Nov -1 Dec 2016).
Tomasz Miksa joined Barbara Reed (Recordkeeping Innovation), Pip Laurenson (Tate/PERICLES), Simon Waddington (King's College London/PERICLES) and Patricia Falcao (Tate/PERICLES) in a thematic session on 'Risk assessment for preservation in the active life of complex digital objects'.
This session looked at how to characterise different types of risk which are relevant to the preservation of a range of digital objects in different contexts including those described by continuum theory. It also considered what type of information is available and required for accurate assessment within different preservation contexts, namely digital artworks, scientific data, records and archives. The focus of this session was largely be on complex digital objects.

Planning of a project
The document proposes a design for the Signal Free Qartaba Chowk Interchange in Lahore to address traffic congestion issues at the intersection of three major roads. The proposed design includes flyovers and ramps to create a grade-separated interchange. It would have higher aesthetics, improve traffic flow, require less space, and better utilize the constrained area. Key features include ramps down and up to access the Metro Bus Service corridor and two flyovers. The design aims to resolve the problems caused by rapid annual traffic growth and the construction of the Metro Bus system at this intersection.

This 'PERICLES in practice' session covered the PERICLES approach in addressing evolving semantics and the use of Somoclu and SemaDrift in the detection of drift to alert ontology maintenance and object appraisal by designated workflows.
