Art in Indonesia Batik -Most developed form 	of artwork-Translates to “Cloth 	with little dots-Originated in Egypt and 	the Middle east-Thought to be art for 		only Javanese 	royalty-Cotton and/or Silk are 	used as the cloth-Wax is applied for the 	dye resisting 	process Indonesian Women practicing “Batik”
Architecture Religious Architecture -Religious structures called “candi” were built in Java during the Hindu-Buddhist 	kingdoms between the 8th and 14th centuries-Only 8 remain today compared to the 400 thought to originally exist-They started out plain then over the course of 100 years they became more 	extravagant-The Prambanan is the largest example of Hindu architecture in Java Prambanan temple in Java
Dance -Each ethnicity has its own dance 	meaning there is over 3000 	original dances-There are many dance schools to keep 	the traditional dance alive-Dance is divided into:Three historical eras; Prehistoric 	tribal, Hindu-Buddhist, and IslamTwo genres; Court Dance and 	Folk DanceTwo Types; Traditional and 		Contemporary Balinese Temple Dancer
