The students grouped cubes into tens to count them and keep track on number grids as counting the large number of cubes to 530 was made easy doing it in tens, as their 200 number boards were too small so they counted on a 1000 number grid on a screen.

1. How many cubes are there?

2. We grouped the cubes and put them in the middle.

3. We put the cubes into groups of tens. Then we counted by pointing to each group and then moving it aside. We did this so we wouldn’t get confused.

4. We also wrote on our number grids to keep track.

5. We looked at 1000 number grid on the screen because our 200’s boards were too small.

6. We counted to 530! Counting in tens made it easy and fun to count to such bug number 
