Waiting for healthcare has significant costs. Between 2012-2013, the total cost of waiting increased by $1.6 billion to $6.6 billion as more procedures were delayed. If trends continue, the total cost of waiting is predicted to rise by another $1 billion to $7.6 billion by the end of 2014 as procedure delays increase further.
