This document discusses the development of an energy-efficient method for the photoelectrochemical oxidation of glycerol to dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a high-value chemical, using a Ta-doped BiVO4/WO3/F-doped tin oxide photoanode. The Ta-doped photoanode was found to have higher acid resistance than a conventional non-doped BiVO4/WO3/FTO photoanode. This new photoelectrochemical process allows for the efficient production of DHA from glycerol.
