Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

1. Article – Artikel 1
Un concours Franco-Belge « Contre la Montre »est organisé le Samedi 28 Juillet 2018 sur VIERZON, conjointement par L’UNION
BRABANCONNE – LA COLOMBE JOYEUSE et la 17° REGION COLOMBOPHILE FRANCAISE.
Ce concours est baptisé « Souvenir Danny VAN BAEL et Frans RANS »
Een Frans-Belgische wedstrijd “tijdrit” die wordt ingericht door de BRABANTSE UNIE – LA COLOMBE JOYEUSE en de 17° REGIO
van de FRANSE DUIVENLIEFHEBBERSBOND op Zaterdag 28 Juli 2018 vanuit VIERZON.
Deze wedstrijd zal “Aandenken Danny VAN BAEL” en “Frans RANS” genoemd worden.
Article 2 – Artikel 2: Conditions de Participation / Deelnemingsvoorwaarden
- Belgique: 50 amateurs pouvant engager chacun 2 pigeons (toute bague sauf 2018)
- France : 50 amateurs affiliés à la 17° Région Colombophile et aux sociétés invitées participant régulièrement aux concours
(Béziers) pouvant engager 2 pigeons de même sexe sauf si les paniers sont munis de séparation (toute bague sauf 2018).
Les organisateurs, une fois les candidatures d’engagement reçues, déterminent les participants respectifs dans la limite fixée ci-dessus.
Les candidatures d’engagement sont à faire parvenir à :

La limite des engagements est fixée au 15 juin 2018
- België : 50 liefhebbers, aangesloten bij de KBDB, die elk 2 duiven kunnen inzetten (geen jongen 2018)
- Frankrijk: 50 liefhebbers, aangesloten bij de 17° Régio van de FCF en ook bij de verenigingen die op regelmatige basis
deelnemen aan de door hun ingerichte wedstrijden (Béziers) kunnen elk 2 duiven van hetzelfde geslacht inzetten (geen
jongen 2018)
Alleen de 50 eerste inschrijvingen ,in orde met de hierboven vermelde condities, komen in aanmerking voor deelneming tot de
wedstrijd.
De kandidaturen voor deelneming zullen gericht worden aan:

Belgique / België : 25 Euro/pigeon = 50 Euro /amateur

2. Article 5 – Artikel 5: Constitution des tandems / Samenstelling van de tandems
Les tandems seront constitués par tirage au sort effectué à Beersel le matin du lâcher de Bruxelles (6/7)
Il sera réalisé par : - Jean-Pierre BARBASTE, Président de la 17° RC pour les colombophiles belges
- Alex RANS, Président de L’Union Brabançonne pour les colombophiles Français
Les tandems seront mis en ligne sur le site du Groupement Sud-Montagnard pour la France et sur le site de l’Union Brabançonne
www.brabantse-unie.be et « La Colombe Joyeuse » www.colombejoyeuse.be pour la Belgique.
De samenstelling van de tandems zullen bepaald worden bij lottrekking in Beersel de morgen van de lossing van de wedstrijd uit Brussel

Deze lottrekking zal verricht worden door:
- Voor de Belgische liefhebbers, de Heer Jean-Pierre BARBASTE, voorzitter van de 17° Regio
- Voor de Franse liefhebbers, de Heer Alex RANS, Voorzitter van de Brabantse Unie
Alle tandems zullen verschijnen op de website Groupement Sud-Montagnard voor Frankrijk en op de website van de Brabantse Unie
www.brabantse-unie.be en deze van La Colombe Joyeuse www.colombejoyeuse.be voor België.
Article 6 – Artikel 6: Permis de lâcher – Ordre des lâchers / Vergunning tot lossing – Volgorde van de lossing
Permis de lâcher: un permis de lâcher sera demandé par la 17° Région Colombophile et par l’Union Brabançonne auprès de leur Fédération
nationale respective. (KBDB & FCF)
Ordre des lâchers :
- Un tandem (2 pigeons d’un amateur belge + 2 pigeons d’un amateur français) sera lâché chaque minute
- L’ordre des lâchers sera celui déterminé par la constitution des tandems
- Le lâcher commencera dés que possible
Lossingsvergunning: een vergunning tot lossing zal door beide organisatoren aangevraagd worden bij hun respectievelijke federaties (KBDB
& FCF)
Volgorde van lossing :
- De volgorde der lossingen zal bepaald worden volgens de samenstelling van de tandems
- 1 tandem (2 duiven van een Belgische liefhebber + 2 duiven van Franse liefhebber) zal om de minuut gelost worden
- De aanvang van de eerste lossing zal zo vroeg mogelijk gebeuren.
Article 7 – Artikel 7: Classements / Klassering van de tandems
Pour la France et la Belgique, il sera établi un classement à la vitesse réelle sur le meilleur pigeon de chaque amateur.
- Belgique : RANS Alex
- France : BARBASTE Jean-Pierre
Classement des tandems : addition de la vitesse réelle du 1° pigeon de chacun des amateurs constituant le tandem.
Er zal, zowel voor Frankrijk als België, een rangschikking opgemaakt worden aan de reële snelheid van de snelste duif van iedere
liefhebber.
Verantwoordelijke rangschikking:
- België : RANS Alex
- Frankrijk : BARBASTE Jean-Pierre
Klassering van de tandems: Optelling van de reële snelheid van de 1° duif van iedere liefhebber deel uitmakend van de tandem.
Article 8 – Artikel 8: Paniers / Manden
Chaque panier devra afficher devant et derrière le nom de l’amateur et les matricules des pigeons.
Belgique uniquement/ Alleen België: des paniers osier à séparation seront fournis par le transporteur BAUWENS
- Rieten manden die worden ter beschikking gesteld door de transportfirma BAUWENS
- 2 duiven/mand elk in een apart vak
- ledere mand zal, zowel vooraan als achteraan, de naam van de liefhebber alsook de ringnummers van de duiven vermelden.
Article 9 – Artikel 9: Récompenses / Prijzen voor de winnaars
Amateurs BELGES: 1 trophée remis au 3 premiers tandems dont la remise s’effectuera lors de la remise des prix de L’UNION

Belgische Liefhebbers : 1 trofee zal uitgereikt worden aan de 3 eerste tandems waarvan de uitreiking zal plaatsvinden tijdens de
prijsuitreiking van de BRABANTSE UNIE (16/11/2018).
De belgische liefhebber van de 1° tandem zal, samen met een persoon naar keuze, in Frankrijk uitgenodigd worden bij de prijsuitreiking van
de Semi-Nationale vlucht vanuit BRUSSEL(23/09/2018).
Franse liefhebbers: 1 beker zal uitgereikt worden aan de 3 eerste tandems waarvan de uitreiking zal gebeuren tijden de prijsuitreiking van de
Semi-Nationale vlucht vanuit BRUSSEL.(23/09/2018)
De franse liefhebber van de winnende tandem zal, samen met een persoon naar zijn keuze, in België uitgenodigd worden tijdens de
prijsuitreiking van de BRABANTSE UNIE (16/11/2018).
3. Belgische liefhebbers 1 trofee zal uitgereikt worden aan de 3 eerste liefhebbers waarvan de uitreiking zal plaatsvinden tijdens de
prijsuitreiking van LA COLOMBE JOYEUSE(3/3/19)

Tous les cas non prévus dans le présent règlement seront réglés par le comité d’organisation.
Alle twistgevallen die niet in het opgestelde reglement voorzien zijn zullen door het organisatie comité opgelost worden.
