Three main types of teaching contracts are discussed: probationary contracts lasting up to 3 years, term contracts up to 5 years, and continuing contracts which are indefinite. Probationary contracts can be terminated by the school district at the end of the contract term without renewal. Contracts can also be terminated mid-term if the teacher does not meet the school district's expectations, and breaking the ethics code is not alone grounds for cancellation.
