Wix VS Wordpress
The main difference between Wix and Wordpress is the learning curve. With Wix,
everything is very clearly indicated and without any knowledge, you can start building a site.
For Wordpress on the other hand, you need to learn a bit of coding and you will have to
learn more about what making a website is all about.
Wordpress offers you way more flexibility, but it is difficult to learn how to use it.
Wix on the other hand is more restricted, but much more user friendly.
Wix also offers a different array of templates to get you going, but know that everyone can
use these, so your site probably won’t be that unique.
If you look at professional websites, they are more often created by using Wordpress. If for
instance a newspaper wants a website, it has to standout and this is possible with
Wordpress, Wix would restrict too much.
Both sites can be used free of charge, with both having an option to pay, in order to get
extra functions. The biggest difference is that in order to fully see what your site will look
like, with Wordpress you will have to publish it and visit it. With Wix, you immediately have
an idea while editing.
I had already worked with Wix and it is fairly easy to use and get a hang of it. For this
assignment, I began working with Wordpress and looked if I would be able to understand it.
It was challenging at first, but I believed I could grasp it.
For my decision of which one to choose, I went for Wordpress, because it would give me
more liberty and despite the learning curve, I think I can manage learning the functions.
Looking at the future I believe it can also be the most useful to be able to use in a later
scenario.
