This document discusses the need for consumer movements to take a holistic perspective that considers global welfare, not just local material gains. It argues that viewing consumer interests narrowly and selfishly will ultimately be harmful, as current policies focused on short-term gains are destroying the global environment and life. To achieve balanced and accurate policies, consumer movements should address major issues like environmental protection, education, health, agriculture and disasters from a perspective of global welfare and harmony.
