This document summarizes connecting electronic components to an Android device and controlling them from an app. It discusses the IOIO board, which provides digital and analog input/output to sensors and actuators. It can communicate over USB or Bluetooth to an Android phone or PC. The Accessory Development Kit (ADK) and Android Open Accessory (AOA) protocol allow an IOIO-based device to be recognized as a USB accessory from an Android app. Example code is provided to blink LEDs on an IOIO tree in response to light readings from a photoresistor.
