1. Length of terms: Full semester (minimum of 15 weeks) and accelerated formats. Prior to Fall 2008, a semester credit represented one period (50
minutes) a week of lectures of recitations, or three periods (150 minutes) a week of laboratory work for one semester.
2. Averages are computed on the basis of numerical equivalent for the letter grades.

U - Unsatisfactory participation in non-credit courses or activities.
T - Course/credits accepted in transfer. Credits do not enter into the computation of the quality point average.
W - Official withdrawal from a course. Also used to indicate withdrawal from the College.
Y - Continuing course. Same values as grade for succeeding semester.
NR - No grade recorded/received.
IP - Course is in progress for the current semester.
WV - Waived course requirement.
4. Accreditation – Merrimack College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
5. It is the policy of this institution to include on transcripts all work attempted as well as completed.
6. The minimum institutional load for full-time undergraduate students is 12 credit hours per semester. Beginning in Fall 2008, the minimum
institutional load for full-time graduate students is 8 credit hours per semester. Prior to that time, the minimum institutional load for full-time
graduate students was 9 credits per semester.
7. Through August 2008, the basic requirement for a Bachelor’s Degree was a minimum of forty courses and a minimum of 120 credits. For
students completing the degree in Fall 2009, the basic requirement for a Bachelor’s degree was 120 credits. For students completing in Spring
2009, Summer 2009 or Fall 2009, the basic requirement for the Bachelor’s Degree is 121 credits. For students completing in Spring 2010,
Summer 2010 or Fall 2010, the basic requirement for the Bachelor’s Degree is 122 credits. For students completing in Spring 2011, Summer
2011 or Fall 2011, the basic requirement for the Bachelor’s degree is 123 credits. For students completing in the Spring 2012 semester or
thereafter, the basic requirement for the Bachelor’s Degree is 124 credits. The basic requirement for an Associate’s Degree is a minimum of 60
credits. Effective 1977, the minimum final quality point average for graduation was 2.00. Beginning with students entering in the Fall of 1988,
the minimum final quality point average is 2.00 overall and 2.00 in the student’s major or concentration as defined by the student’s department.
