Power
Generation:
Coal-fired
power stations
World Mapper
CO2 emission
38% of the world's energy is provided through coal-fired power
stations.

In India and china coal-fired stations provide more than 50% of the
power.
STARTER: Read p25
  Question:

  1. Each of these gases result in acid rain and
climate change. In your book write what do
the following letters and numbers stand
       for?
        CO²
        SO²
        N²O
  1. Why are coal-fired power stations causing
       pollution?
  2. How can each of these gases be reduced?
Energy
 Figure13 shows the changes in energy use
  from 2000 to 2030 (projected)
 Create a table to show the difference

   Fuel 2000 % 2030 % % change
Coal 26 24 -2

 EXTENSION: Describe the methods of
  decreasing CO², SO² & N²O
Sustainability in the workplace

 Cut out the images you have and
  stick them into your book
 Write around them:-
 Identify what the picture is
 Determine who would use it (type
      of industry, personal, etc)
 How does it allow for
      sustainability?
Example:
 Identify what the picture
    is
 Determine who would use
    it (type of industry,
    personal, etc)
 How does it allow for
    sustainability?
