This document discusses a Colombian company that produces ruanas, which are rectangular blankets with an opening in the center for the head. The company currently has a trade agreement to export ruanas to Peru. Ruanas would be successful in Peru because they experience cold temperatures in the Andes mountains, ruanas are not currently manufactured there, and ruanas provide warmth and versatility as both a garment and blanket. The company's goal is to become one of the largest ruana producers and honor traditional peasant craftsmanship.

Currently we just have one agreement and it is with Peru. This
country belongs to the Andes Region, and that`s the mean
reason why we export them our ruanas. Colombia and Peru are
sister countries; our cultures share a similar origin. And our
climate conditions are practically the same.

is people who lives in that region. Peruans have a cloth
similar to our ruanas from quechua`s culture and it`s called
aguayo. However, this garment have too many uses, like
carry things. We want to give them a special garment to cold
times protection and the ruana is an excelent option.
