Focusing on colour schemes
for our magazine and poster,
we have decided to use
colours that are relevant to
what our main actress is
wearing in this image, as this
is what she mainly wears
throughout the trailer. The
use of red and black also
connote feelings of darkness
and danger, which are
themes running throughout
our trailer.
Blue is commonly seen as the colour of the
sky and the ocean. It is often associated
with depth and stability. It symbolises trust,
loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence,
faith, trust and heaven. This could be used
to portray Nancy’s break free from the
dangerous personalities she possesses, and
also to put across themes of positivity
within the film.
The colour white is commonly associated
with light, goodness, innocence and purity.
It is considered the colour of perfection and
symbolises safety, purity and cleanliness. As
opposed to black, white often has positive
connotations. It can also represent a
successful beginning. This could show the
other side to our main character, the
positive side before she is possessed and
out of control.
Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it
often associated with energy, war, danger,
strength, power and determination, as well
as passion, desire, warmth and love. Red is
a very emotionally intense colour and
brings text and images to the foreground. It
can be used as an accent colour to
stimulate people to make quick decisions,
and therefore is a great colour to use for
promotion of the film.
Black is usually associated with power,
death, evil and mystery. It is a mysterious
colour symbolising fear and the unknown. It
usually has negative connotations and this
can be used to portray the dark side of
Nancy’s condition.
