1. The Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology in Serampore, West Bengal will reopen on November 16th, 2021 following COVID safety protocols. 2. All postgraduate students will attend classes in-person, while undergraduate theory classes will remain online. Practical classes for final year undergraduate students will be held in-person on a scheduled basis. 3. The boys' hostel remains closed for repairs. Students must bring a parental permission letter to attend classes on campus. Strict social distancing and crowd control measures will be enforced.

In pursuance of the office order no. 1058-Edn (CS)/1OM - 32/2021 dated 28.10.21 of Higher
Education Department, Bikash Bhawan, Kolkata - 91 , regarding reopening of colleges from 16
th
November 2021 the following modalities will be in force to conduct classes in the institute:
1. All the academic departments and the central library will be opened from 16
th
November
2021 with restricted entry as per COVID norms mentioned in the aforesaid G.O.
2. All the PG students are allowed to attend the college physically for theory, practical and
project classes from 16th
November 2021 maintaining strict COVID protocol.
3. The theory classes of the UG students will continue in the online mode as usual because
the current semester is in its midway and also due to lack of infrastructure necessary to
maintain strict COVID protocol for conducting all theory classes physically.
4. For conducting the practical classes at the college physically, as and when required, the
Head of Departments are to make a schedule for the same giving priority to B.Tech 4th
year and Jrd
year students respectively. As a possible advisory all the practical classes for
a particular year/semester may be arranged in a certain span oftime for consecutive days.
5. The physical condition of the only boys' hostel is not conducive for boarding. The matter
has been brought to the notice ofthe higher authorities for repair and maintenance and it
vvill be taken up as soon as the approval from the higher authority is received. Therefore,
the hostel will remain closed for repair and maintenance till further notice.
6. Final year project work is allowed physically in the college in consultation with
respective HODs.

2. 7. All the students attending the college have to bring a no objection letter from their
parents/legal guardian on the first day of physical attendance to the college for attending
the practical/project classes physically.
8. Social distancing should be maintained at all places inside the campus and crowding will
not be allowed at any place under any circumstances.
9. No extracurricular activities will be allowed inside the campus where social distancing is
not possible.
10. Situation will be assessed after a reasonable time to take further decision regarding
opening of physical classes ofUG students.
