Lessons from the Trenches: Monitoring your OpenStack Cloud Platform9
One of the most important tasks that a cloud operator needs to focus on, after deployment, is effective monitoring. But what are the best tools to use and what metrics should be tracked to ensure a healthy OpenStack cloud? In this webinar, Platform9's engineering team talks about how Platform9 monitor our customers’ clouds and the lessons learned from being in the trenches of deploying OpenStack in production.
Focus areas covered during this webinar:
1. State of the union on OpenStack monitoring
2. Tools we use for monitoring: Server Density, Slack, VictorOps and PaperTrail
3. Lessons learned on how and what to monitor
In November 2016, Liz Russell and Ksenia Dynkin of Bluecadet presented the STC-PMC with a case study about best practices learned from a project their company did for the Hoover Mason Trestle, a historical landmark inBethlehem, Pennsylvania. They spoke about the research that needed to be done, the content development process, the storytelling strategy and framework they devised, and how they translated the content strategy for user-friendly kiosks and apps for visitors' mobile devices when visiting the Hoover Mason Trestle.
The document discusses privacy concerns in the digital age. It notes that 32 million Canadians have internet access and 86% use mobile phones. By the end of the decade, there could be 50 billion internet-connected devices including consumer electronics, cars, appliances and more. These interconnected devices allow for increased data collection and monitoring of individuals. However, few users take steps to protect their privacy through security software or privacy settings. The document questions how people can live normal lives when so much data is permanently stored online and available for monitoring by companies and governments. A new social movement is emerging advocating for consent and accountability in digital surveillance.

It notes 4 errors found in searching for the words - the letters that need to be changed to find the correct words "CPU", "PAGINA", and "WINDOWS". It could not find the words "MONITOR"

Focus on story, don't be seduced by sexy tools: How journalists can create gr...Mirko Lorenz
This is a presentation for journalists and anybody interested in why and how stories can have impact. This is all about on how to find the best form for a strong story.
This is not easy. There are so many options and new tools. The key message of this presentation is that the focus should be on creating the story.
Which calls for an understanding why some stories are strong and lasting, while many are not. Additionally one must understand how the creation process works, which is best done by example and practice (of course).
The original presentation was held as the TASC Storycamp for the finalists of the African Story Challgenge, in Marrakesh, on August 11, 2014.
