Whilst studying music in the same genre of the song Tulisa-
Young I have noticed a trend of quite a lot of colour being used
and the video being very selective to fit the song entirely and
have a lot of shots that link the song and the video together.
In every song I have noticed there is always a mix of genders and
never just one, the girls use their femininity to attract not only
girls to watch the video but boys aswell.
The locations are matched well to the song to gain establishment
so you have an understanding of what the song is about, such as
Tulisa’s video is in the sea and at a party showing a playful side to
the song “Young” whereas Beyonce’s video is in a deserted area
with rubble and broken cars about showing a riot and conflict
with the song “run the world girls”.
The girls outfits in the video are usually reflective of
the lyrics of the song and also what is in fashion, in
every video that I’ve studied the girls are often in
short skirts or dresses but are made to fit the genre,
such as Beyoncé in “run the world girls” she is in a fur
collar round her neck to show power and lots of gold
to show her superiority but she is also in heels which
makes her more feminine and then a skirt which
shows sex appeal such as with Tulisa in “young” in her
establishing shot she is in shorts and a cropped top
                            which also shows sex appeal.
In every video the girls are also shown having a
choreographed dance routine which is usually with
another group of girls or sometimes with a male
                                              partner.
Stereotype
My fan is a 16 year old female which is in a B-D social
group, She enjoys listening to the music for the fashion
and glamour and the pretty scenes that are set
throughout this R&B/pop genre of music. She likes to
dance about and listen to them when she is getting ready
to go out or when she is in a bad mood to cheer herself
up. She is very girly and likes her pink and bright colours
and enjoys taking pride in her appearance and getting the
latest fashion so she is up to date with the trend. She likes
to wear dresses and skirts and try look as presentable as
possible. She is into singing herself and often singing the
latest songs that have come out. Her style is reflective of
the genre music she listens to and often which girl is
number one in the chart .
