1) Doctors Neal and Chris are operating on a patient but disagree on the next steps, with Neal wanting to continue operating and Chris thinking it's pointless. 2) Dr. Simon Alex confronts Neal and Chris about their actions, reminding them that their role is to help patients. Neal mentions they are in a state of "code black," needing to free up space due to high volume. 3) Simon Alex calls the family of patient Morgan to update them on her condition and need for her to come to the hospital immediately, to avoid losing both her children after already losing one.
