Simon Coleman has demonstrated strong teamwork, leadership, and work ethic over four years at Manchester University. As a member of the men's soccer team and the summer grounds crew, he has shown a commitment to giving his best effort and supporting others. Academically, Simon has excelled, making the Dean's List and helping the soccer team earn an academic award for three years. On boththe soccer teamand the groundscrew,Simonhas demonstratedagreat“team”attitude. He
can be countedon to give hisbesteffort. He hasbeena dependableandconsistent contributorinboth
settings. Simonisalwayscooperative,helpful,andwillingtodohispart and more. He hasa genuine
service orientationthatIhave appreciatedashiscoach and supervisoronthe groundscrew.
On the soccer team,Simonhasbeen a solidandsteadymemberof ourteam.He isalways one of the
firstplayersouton the fieldeachdaybefore practice workingonhisowntoimprove some aspectof his
skill set. He has beenwillingtoplay avarietyof positionsasthe needsof the team have dictated.
Simonconsistentlydemonstrateswhatitmeanstobe a goodteammate…givinghisownbesteffort,
encouragingandsupportingothers,andmaintainingapositive spirit. He has beenareal studentof the
game,workingat a bettertactical understandingof the game aswell asthe technical developmentof his
game. He isin the processof workingtowardhiscoachinglicense.
Simonhasalso beencommittedtodoingwellacademically. Thispastfall he wason the Manchester
UniversityDean’sListandhadthe highestGPA onour team. He has helpedsetthe highacademic
standardthat has gainedthe soccerteamthe National SoccerCoachesof AmericaTeamAcademic
Awardfor all three yearshe has played onthe team.
Thisyear Simonhasbeenresponsible forcoordinatingthe ManchesterUniversityintramural program as
the Directorof Intramurals. Thisrole requireshimtobe involvedwithawide groupof fellow students
and staff inmanagingall aspectsof the program, including gymscheduling,game scheduling,captains
meetings, refereesupervision,andassistingpracticumstudentsworkingunderhissupervision. Ithas
beena greatopportunity forhimto furtherdevelophis leadership andorganizational skills.
On our summergrounds crew,IfoundSimonto be a reliable and productive worker. He tookpride in
hiswork. He got alongwell withhisfellow workers. Simonwasable toworkwell withothersandhe
