This document describes examples of elements, compounds, mixtures, homogeneous mixtures, and heterogeneous mixtures. An element is made of only one substance, like a silver spoon. Compounds can't be separated into other substances physically, such as water which is made of hydrogen and oxygen, or sugar. Mixtures are composed of multiple substances that can be separated, exemplified by soil, soda, and gravy. Homogeneous mixtures like vegetable oil and beer have their substances evenly distributed, while heterogeneous mixtures like oil and water or juice with pulp are not evenly distributed.
