BANGALORE, INDIA: Bangalore-based PurpleLeap, a skill enhancement company for
college students, has tied up with Singapore-based robotics education specialists,
Robhatah, to provide robotics education and set up robotics labs in colleges.
Purpleleap plans to partner with around 30 tier-2 and tier-3 colleges with the
multidisciplinary skills and know-how to succeed in scientific and technological careers.
Amit Bansal, CEO, PurpleLeap said, “Robotics shows significant area for job growth and
development in the decades ahead. These courses are already available at the IITs and
the NITs. We are excited to be the first in India to play a key role in robotics education
as this will catapult India’s contribution in this field.”
Worldwide, robotics, a US $100 billion industry with an annual growth of 40-50 per
cent, is being increasingly recognized as an innovation-enabler, and has consistently
demonstrated its importance in a wide variety of applications – including fields as
diverse as healthcare, security, agriculture, manufacturing, transport, and national
defense.
During the first year of this initiative, PurpleLeap will train 1500 students in 30
colleges, across 12 states in the country. The effort includes setting up Robotics
Centres of Excellence – high-tech labs that include robotic kits and even the engaging
robo-soccer systems – in each of these colleges. Robhatah will be the exclusive course
content partner.
The programs offered by PurpleLeap are split into basic and expert level. Robologics is
the basic level, spanning 40 hours and can be completed in one semester. This course
introduces the students to different engineering concepts like microcontrollers,
electrical circuits, sensors, motors, gears and embedded programming. At the end of
the course, the student will know the techniques to design, build and control a robot.
Roboxpert, which follows Robologics, is a specialization course spanning over two
