11. Will the repaired tool last like a new tool?
Yes, as long as the guy who smashed it the first time doesn’t do it again.
Generally new tools are around 40 Rockwell. They key is in the welding. We
primarily TIG weld with various filler metals that most closely relate to the
original metal. To say repaired tools are soft is just inaccurate as long as it is
welded correctly.

Cindex Industries, Inc. was founded in 1960 as the country’s first
exclusive indexable tool repair facility. With the proliferation of CNC
technology an opportunity to repair damaged indexable tooling was
realized, and through years of experimentation and determination the
science of tool repair was established.
The name Cindex is derived from the term SINTERED “meaning to bond
together partially without melting” (in this case Tungsten and Cobalt),
and ‘INDEXABLE,” for the type of tooling being repaired. The S on
sintered was changed to C, giving the company its original name of
Cindex Carbide Company. In 1962, Cindex Carbide Company was
incorporated and became Cindex Industries, Inc., as it is known today.
