Encryption protects private communications and should not be weakened through backdoors. While governments argue backdoors aid counterterrorism, they are inherently dangerous because they cannot be contained - if a backdoor is implemented for one entity, it will be discovered and used by malicious actors as well. Once created, a backdoor exists everywhere and anyone can exploit it, undermining the very security it aimed to enhance.
