This document provides instructions for decorating a Christmas tree, including assembling either a real or artificial tree, stringing lights in a zig-zag pattern up the tree, getting creative with decorations like cranberries, tinsel or popcorn, using a color scheme or homemade ornaments, placing larger ornaments on lower branches and smaller ones higher up, putting favorite ornaments in front, and topping the tree off with an angel, star or other item before lighting it up.

1. How to Decorate a

2. Assembling the
Tree
– Real Tree? Skip this step!
– Take the pieces out of box.
– Assemble the base and stem of
tree.
– Start with big pieces at bottom.
– Continue with smaller pieces
towards top.

3. Adding the Lights
– Decide on multi-colored or white lights.
– Plug in lights to power strip.
– Start at the base of the tree.
– Continue up tree in zig-zag pattern. (See Picture)
– Avoid large gaps or clusters when spacing.

4. Continuing to Decorate
– During this step, get creative!
– Pick between cranberries, tinsel, or
popcorn.
– Stray from making the tree overwhelming

5. What Ornaments to
Use
– Decide on a color scheme
– OR
– Decorate with ornaments
that are homemade
– Or use a mixture of both!

6. How to Place Ornaments
Place bigger
ornaments on lower
branches
• These branches can hold
more weight
Place smaller
ornaments on top
branches
Place favorite
ornaments near
the front
•These will be easier to
see!

7. What goes on top?
– Choose between:
– Angel
– Star
– Etc.
– Carefully place item on top
– Light the tree!
