The victim of our film is portrayed as being normal and innocent, but in the background story she could also just be as bad as the stalker, as she killed the parents of the stalker (Eugene Leonards) and then framed him, at the time Eugene was 10, which was too young to be convicted so he was sectioned off and placed in a maudsley hospital as they thought he was insane and would of been a threat to society to let him stay free. The victim is trying to live her life without any remorse from her past, but as Eugene escapes she starts to get paranoid and becomes isolated from society as much as he is.We have tried to portray her as this due to the amount of wide shots and extreme wide shots used and also the music used when she is running away from him

The opening of my film, ‘mad house’ portrays the stalker as very isolated and creepy, which is typical in any thriller film.We have made sure we have emphasised the element of isolation and ‘weird’ because in other thriller openings such as ‘seven’ the serial killer looks very strange and isolated and they brought across the idea of isolation due to the mise en scene, the props and the special effects. We have tried to imitate the elements from seven into our own film, and we have tried to do this by making it extremely dark so that the stalker can blend into the dark to follow and attempt to kill the victim, also in certain scenes we have tried to make everything else in the mise en scene clear except his face, which will remain unseen. The background story to this film is quite significant because I have not seen anyone attempt to make a film like ours.The background story of the film tells us why the stalker is following the victim, and why he escaped from the hospital and what he is planning to do if/when he finds the woman.
