A fracture is a broken bone that can be either simple (closed) with no open wound or compound (open) where the skin is broken through to the fracture. A greenstick fracture is an incomplete break where one side of the bone is broken and the other side is bent, and commonly occurs in children due to their more pliable bone structure.
