Otara Gunewardene provides grant of One Million Rupees to commemorate World Environment Day 2015

To commemorate and celebrate one of
the most significant days for positive
action, World Environment Day, I am
pleased to invite applications from
animal welfare organisations and
environmental conservation agencies
that are committed to uplifting the
wellbeing of animals and preserving
our valuable, natural environment.
World Environment Day provides an
opportunity for each one of us to become agents of change
towards all life on earth and the environment.
Four chosen organisations will be awarded with a one-off
grant of Rs. 250,000 each. The grant will be awarded for
projects that I believe have the best potential to make a real
difference in the lives of animals, the environment and
surrounding communities.
Together, let us work towards the change we want to see
and create a better world.

01. Name of contact person and details.
02. Briefbackgroundtotheorganization/individual,local
context, governance structure and legal status of the
organization in the country where the project will be
carried out.
03. Summary of past and current projects.
04. It’s essential that you justify the need for the project
and outline its objectives.
05. With regard to the project timeline, please outline
when activities need to happen in order to achieve
the project objectives.
06. Any additional information that you feel is relevant to
your application should be included. For example:
detail the relevant experience of your organization
in relation to the project you are submitting; provide
information about any funding you’ve received in
the past from grant-giving organizations.
07. It’s essential that your application states how the
success of your project will be measured. For
example: listing the expected outcomes of the
project as these can be used as evaluation indicators
to measure its success.
08. Depending upon the nature of the project for which
the grant is required, please include evidence of the
presence of a long term funding plan if applicable.
09. Your application must explain how sustainability for
the project will be achieved once the Grant has been
spent.
10. You must include at least two references/
recommendations about the work you have
conducted in the past, for example, sponsors of
previous projects, animal welfare / environmental
conservation organisations you have worked with in
the past.
Your submission should consist of an
introductory letter accompanied by
a document explaining the
organization’s/individual’s project,
the need for funds and the amount
being sought. In addition,
references/recommendations
behind the application should be
included. Other documentation can
be provided if it adds weight to your
application. In some cases, we may
request further information about
your project.

GUIDANCE FOR APPLICANTS
APPLICATIONS SHOULD PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
•The grant is only available to non-profit, non-governmental animal welfare and enviromental conservation agencies.
• Upon submission we may request clarification of the information provided by you in the application.
• You must submit the comprehensive application on or before the 30th of June 2015.
• Reciepiants will be announced on 12th of July 2015
