2. A Typical Morning in Future
I wake up on 26 September, 2022, excited for another day at my job. It starts the moment I
wake up. While snoozing the alarm on my smartphone, I check the status of my farm and the
weather. Well, the farm is properly hydrated so I do not need to turn on the sprinklers. The
weather is sunny, therefore, no need to turn on the flood lights.
I get ready and eat my breakfast, made from my own farm goods. My farm is on the top of
my building and it feeds the whole building. So, there. My job is to take care of the farm, so
that everyone can be fed.
On good days, like today, I do more than just farming. Farming requires constant attention,
but even with the bad weather, I can keep things under control. The safety transparent
plastic over my farm keeps it safe from rain and thunder. Vents are placed at the bottom
border of my farm for ventilation. I control all of it through my smartphone, which updates
me on the status of my farm.
I have a lot of free time, so I do have a few part-time jobs. My first part time job starts at
8:00 am. I teach. I teach Mathematics to 10,000 8th graders, studying in 100 different
schools. I simply log onto my computer and guide students through the lessons and queries.
They are currently watching the lectures I uploaded this weekend. Today is Thursday, so they
only have one more day to submit their assignments.
3. A Typical Morning in Future
After an hour, their Biology class starts. I check their assignments on Fridays, after all of them
have submitted. Actually, the assignments are automatically checked, so I just have to analyze
the data and plan my future lessons based on the results.
After my teaching job, I study. Just like my students do. I study for two hours. I’m a farmer so
I’m required to update my knowledge all the time. Each month, my subjects change. This
month I’m studying Nutrition. Next month, it’s gastronomy.
After studying, I prepare lunch. It’s simple. There’s a machine to do that. Cook4.0 comes with
compartments, lots of them. Each compartment is loaded with ingredients. It has an
integrated refrigerator too. Cook4.0 has recipes fed in its system. I simply select what I want to
eat and it cooks. Cooking time varies according to the dish. If I want to eat something that is
not in the system, I select it in my smartphone, and my Cook4.0 integrates it. It can make
anything. I just need to update my recipes and refill the compartments with ingredients.
I choose Chicken Tacos and pudding for today. My kids love them.
I have got some time to kill. I decide to take a small nap. I am woken up by the sound of the
bell. Well, my family is here. I open up the door to let in my son and daughter, followed by
their father.
4. A Typical Company in Future
My husband is not an employee. He is an entrepreneur. He works to provide better health care
to the people of our country. He collaborates with other entrepreneurs from all over the world
to ensure that everyone in the world is healthy. He does not do it alone. His employees are
scattered all over the country, but his most important innovations take place in his office.
My children go to school. They study just like my students. They go to schools, where highly
qualified teachers teach online and the TAs help them with queries.
Our life is simple. After lunch, I help my husband with his entrepreneurship. We usually go
over ideas and refine them along the way. Meanwhile, my children go to the park downstairs
to play.
My husband’s company is quite similar to all the companies today. 30% of his work force is in
administration and management. It works to ensure that every employee, in each corner of
the world, is doing their work on the appointed time. It also looks after financial matters. 20%
employees are in Ideas and Innovation department. They research and propose new ideas.
Another 30% execute and report the results of these ideas. 10% control. They are the top of
the hierarchy. They lead groups containing employees from all departments. Finally, the last
10% are lawyers and doctors, to have legal and healthcare facilities for each employee.
5. A Typical Education in Future
Next comes the homework time. I help my children with homework. Well, more like I help
them play the 3D game that teaches and tests lessons. I and my husband cheer while my kids
compete with all other students in their school. Weaker students have to play longer, until
they become proficient with the subject.
The subjects taught at school are quite diverse. They teach art, music and dance in pre-school.
These continue in higher levels, an hour/subject/week. Languages, Mathematics and Science
are taught from Grade 1. These multiply into component subjects in Middle School. By High
School, students choose their field of interest. However, as all education material is open for
everyone, students can change their field anytime. They can study more than one field if
interested.
After homework, we eat dinner and brainstorm. It’s a simple game of What If? One of us starts
a What If? question. We, then, one by one, answer the possible consequences and benefits of
the condition. It’s quite comical. Sometimes, we end up at quite an invisible consequence.
After brainstorming, we head to our beds. Honestly, we are quite tired after the day we just
had.
6. A Typical Weekend in Future
We go for an outing on weekends. This weekend, we’ll visit the museum. They are exhibiting
the weapons used in World War II. Honestly, I have not seen a weapon since 2014. They
banned all kinds of weapons that year. No one even owns a knife. We do not need one
anymore, with the technology and machines.
Typical Jobs in Future
Today, the world is divided into equal countries. The countries are divided into small
communities. There are jobs that address the intra-community needs. These include farming,
electricity production and hygiene. Each community has their own education, law and security
systems. Then, there are some jobs that address inter-community needs. These include
teaching, local transport and healthcare. Then, there are systems to address intra-national
needs. Sewage, water purification and infrastructure systems are controlled at this level.
Finally, there comes the international needs. These include developments in ICT, engineering
and healthcare. Excavations are also a part of this level.
Trade and transport are spread over all levels.
7. Top Industries of Future
The top industries today are
Health and Lifestyle Technology
Agriculture
Education
Each of these industries affects our lives directly.
Health and Lifestyle Technology
This industry researches and innovates health and lifestyle. It covers medicine, healthcare,
nutrition, exercise, gastronomy, pollution control, safety, and more. It’s employees range from
doctors that provide healthcare at inter-community level to cooks that experiment and create
dishes for Cook4.0
Agriculture
At intra-community level, it includes farmers like me. At international level, it includes
scientists who search for better ways for crop production.
Education
It is spread through all levels of the world. Since education is a continuous process and a
compulsion for everyone today, their work is the most extensive and has a very wide range.
They try to teach everything and make it accessible to everyone.
8. Value of Money in Future
Today, there’s no such thing as money. It created great problems back in 2015. It was
completely annihilated the following year. Instead of money, they gave everyone a job, and
placed them in communities. If anyone of us is dishonest in our jobs, we are exiled from our
community and sent to live in rehabilitation community for 3 months. In the rehabilitation
community, we have to do everything for ourselves. Grow our own food, cook it, clean our
own clothes. We even have to purify our own water. There are no machines or technologies in
the rehabilitation community. Trust me. No one wants to go there.
A person with an international job can also be exiled from the community. Our lives are
connected with our communities. Dishonesty=exile for every person.
It was hard to adjust without money at first, but now, we know it was a good solution.
Geniuses of Future
Geniuses, today, join companies at international level. It’s a privilege. The incentives are
simple but powerful. Since there’s no money involved, companies at international level
provide international exchange. Their employees get to travel the world. Intra-national jobs
offer vacations a month per year to the employees. Inter-community jobs celebrate success
and give credit to deserving employees. Intra-community employees are known and
respected for their work in the community. They are the reason the community sustains. The
whole community appreciates their work. They are the ones who receive gifts from other
members of the community.
9. Communication in Future
No one is invisible today. Everyone has an identity. Our identity is linked to our smartphones.
Every human owns a smartphone today. It’s a compulsion. Internet is free, with WiFi all over
the Earth. We can contact anybody. Since no one has power over others, and everyone is
equal, there is no need to be out of contact. We know everything about everybody. All
information has been fed in our smartphones. Secrets produce insecurity. Insecurity leads to
crime.
Education For The Future
Today’s world was made possible because of the education revolution of 2013-14. Open
quality education over the internets caused many people to rethink their fields of interest. I
changed my field of medicine to agriculture. Another plus of this revolution was expertise in
more than one areas. Apart from my major interest in Agriculture, I developed interest in
Mathematics and Teaching. Thanks to Open Education, I studied these subjects and carried on
my interest to the future.
By 2014, my university has integrated the model of Open Education. Since the lectures were
recorded and put on the webs, our lives lectures at university campus became more
interactive. We discussed and argued and came up with solutions to many problems.
My typical day at university became more interesting. The day was utilized in interactive
lectures and peer assignments. Coincidentally, I became more social, and we realized we
wanted same thing: peace.
10. Today, The Future
Another major revolution was Student Entrepreneurship. It pushed students (youth) to take
matters in their own hands. We did it. We took major matters in our hands, and molded them
out into perfection. We dared to make mistakes, and we discovered solutions that were too
risky to try. We developed the future and we will continue to do so.
Everything is possible. Today is possible. Thursday, 26 September, 2022, is possible. Today,
when I sleep, I’m going to dream a better future.
