Following the success of last year’s Corporate Governance & Risk Forum, Legal Week is
delighted to announce that the forum will return this year, taking place on Thursday 18
October 2012. Chaired by Peter Giblin, an academic at Cass Business School, the forum will
unite in-house compliance and risk officers and ‘C-Level’ representatives to raise awareness of
the changing face of corporate governance and risk across industry sectors.
The perception of poor corporate governance can hugely impact public opinion. Pattern
based strategies aim to improve the ability to foresee the unexpected which, in turn, can

will address the tactics and pitfalls for implementing and evaluating compliance policies in multi-
jurisdictional organisations.

B) Avoiding a G4S situation: How to manage outsourced risk
The recent media furore over shortages of security staff for the London Olympics has led to much
attention being focussed on the supplier, G4S. As businesses continue to drive down costs by
extending their non-core business outsourcing strategy, it is clear that compliance and risk strategies
have to consider external as well as internal stakeholders. This focus group will identify what lessons
can be drawn from the G4S situation.
