LONG VERSION
KevinLee is currently a co-founder and CEO of SOL REPUBLIC. Beforerunning his
own show, Lee started at an early age as an entrepreneur looking to make a buck
as a drummer in a band, then as a DJ, and then a club promoter. After getting his
degree at the University of San Francisco and his Masters at Northwestern’s
Kellogg School of Management, Lee saw the light, and a way to mix his love of
music with the family business Monster Cable, where he proudly worethe title
‘The Little Monster’. A passion for all-things sales then took Lee to Apple as they
were launching their firststores wherehe learned the other side of successful
retail. With that experience, Lee headed back to Monster, where he next created
Monster Music and, later, Lee launched the most talked about, written about and
prolific headphones to date – Beats by Dre. Setting the music industry on fire,
along with becoming synonymous with theentertainment and sports industries,
Beats became a consumer electronics success in a time when other CE companies
were closing their doors. Headphones continue to be one of the only growing
categories within CE and Kevin wanted something to call his own outsidethe
Monster kingdom. Connecting with longtime industry friends Seth Combs and
Scott Hix, the trio formed an audio company rooted in music lifestyle. Created
froma combined passion for music and a commitment to make great sound and
great headphones affordablefor every music fan they created SOL REPUBLIC,
whereKevin currently presides as CEO. A student of experience, Lee employs a
unique leadership stylethat survives on constantcommunication. A diehard
music fan, Kevin loves to run at a breakneck pace and works morenights than a
vampire, but admits to crashing on Sundays to recharge. Unless, of course, there’s
a good concertsomewherein the world. In which case, he’s on the next plane
out. And don’teven think about asking him to unplug during takeoff or landing
because music is whatfuels Lee and he’s deep into his Soundtrack Of Life.
